Dell Optiplex 3080 compatibility

So I'm  looking to buy a 3080 (preowned) and upgrade the GPU. One of my top picks is a GTX 1080, would this be compattible. And is it possible that I could get a list of compatible GPUs?

The problem is that the 1080 requires a 500W PSU with an 8 pin connector and your PSU is more than likely 260W. Hardware-Corner has a web page with more information here and be aware that the chart lists the GPU power draw not the recommended PSU power for the GPU. They recommend the GTX 1650 or GT 1030.

JOcean is correct.  only 3080 tower has a reasonable chance to support GTX 1080 if OP try upgrade to Dell Optiplex 7080 tower 500w psu.

3080 is entry level so Dell only configures 260w psu for tower.  the 7080 towe psu is hopefully c/w 3080 tower.  note 3080 Tower psu has only one 4 pin cpu socket, whereas 7080 has two 4 pin.

3080 tower mobo sockets are more like 5060 etc.  recently user had validated Dell 460w psu for 5060 etc.  this is a more reassuring psu to support GTX 1080 in 3080 tower.

@JOcean How good would the cooling be if I were to upgrade it to a 1650 (one of the compatible cards listed)? I'm afraid it might overheat or have those kind of issue.

3080 tower cooling is not great but better than SFF.  1650 is a mid range card so its heat load in the chassis is tolerable.
