DELL DPAT

Is there any detail setup guideline for enabling the DPAT on R620 servers?

I have followed the Guideline below to setup the DPAT, but it seems the freq (cpuinfo) in the OS still no change.

    Hi Daniel,

    Do you have any update? We are considering to buy a number of new DELL servers through local vendors.

    If you can provide us some confidence results earlier, it can help us to make the decision of buying servers earlier.

    I apologize for the delay. We didn't have any of those processors in our labs. We are expecting a delivery of them tomorrow. Once we have them installed we can verify whether or not DPAT is fucntional, and whether or not any additional steps are required with the V2 CPUs.

    While we are waiting I would recommand installing turbostat if you don't have it already. I think it is part of the cpupowerutils package in RHEL. It will provide more detailed information on the processor states and frequencies.

    We have received the CPU and tested. It is functional.

    What we did find is that dmidecode is not useful in checking frequencies. Turbostat accurately reported the CPU frequencies with DPAT enabled, but dmidecode still reported 3300 and 3600 like you are seeing. Please install turbostat and check the frequencies using it.

    Daniel, Just for our reference, what result you saw with turbostat before and after DPAT on R620 with 2667 v2 CPU ?

    With 2 cores enabled turbostat was listing 3.90GHz. dmidecode was still listing 3.3 base and 3.6 current.
