Dell R740 view network details & ping from laptop

Hi

I am new to the R740 servers.

Is there a way that the network config can be viewed, as the system can't be pinged on the network.

There is no LCD panel.

I can only think of rebooting and F2/F10 to view the network setting to view the IP Address, Gateway and Netmask details, or as the server reboot to view the IDrac IPV4 IP address as it boot up, but I still need to confirm Gateway and Netmask.

Will it be possible to connect my laptop via ethernet cable to ping the server via the iDRAC9 dedicated port? set laptop IPv4 settings.

Thank you for your help.

when it boots it will show you idrac ip address.

You can also view it from the settings in bios.

    Default IP is 192.168.0.120

    Default subnet 255.255.255.0

Default gateway is either 192.168.0.0, .1, or .254 dont remember

just get on the same network as it and use something like Nmap to scan all the ips and find it

all else fails, i think there is a jumper on the mobo that resets the bios and the password

    Hi
what about connecting a micro USB cable from your laptop to the iDRAC Direct port, located on the front of the server?

Is this like a normal Android cable?

    Hi Thank you,

At the end i rebooted, F2/F10 > viewed network settings

I had to reconfig the network settings, as somehow it did not save the first time.. all working now.

I tried resetting the password, as I could not login with the tag/default . after resetting it to root/calvin it will successfully changed but i could still not login.I had to do a idrag reset>then default root/calvin worked.

    Thank you
