FC Port not comming up

Hi,

After connecting fiber cable from SAN switch to FC port of Dell R740 server, FC port didn't came up. I have verified following things:

-> Fiber cable is perfectly fine.

-> I have used SFP, which has been sent by OEM itself.

-> Port is not in shut down state at SAN switch

But still the port shows down. Hoping for the suggestion.

    Hi sandeshp,

Which FC HBA are you using? Which FC switch?

    Hi @DELL-Josh Cr ,

I am using QLOGIC HBA and Cisco MDS 9148 SAN switch.

However, as of now i haven't installed OS in Server. I am checking from iDRAC and always showing "DOWN".

    Thanks

    Hello,

Can you let us know the HBA card Dell part# which is printed on the white QR code, DPN#? Also, in iDRAC can you check the HBA card's firmware version. On the Cisco switch, is the negotiation set to off on the port? Can you test this, try loopback connection on the HBA and check if iDRAC shows the port is connected or active? Also, can you let us know the SFP model or part number, best if you could provide a clear picture of the SFP.

    Let me know the outcome.
