PowerEdge 1950 USB issue.

I have a PowerEdge 1950 and every time I plug my StarTech.com's 16 port StarView PS/2 + USB KVM Switch (SV1631HD) I get an error that states "USB Device Not Recognized: One of the USB devices has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it." I have changed cables and even bought a new keyboard/mouse combo keyboard, updated the Server Bios to the new 2.0.1, updated all drivers and even rebuilt the server. But nothing I try will get the KVM to work. I have moved it to other ports on the KVM switch and same thing. I have all Dell Servers 750's, 850's, 1850's, 2950's, 2850's and even 6850's. All using the same KVM, keyboard and cables and all work with no problem. I even tried using the front USB port as opposed to the rear ones still same issue. I have ran the Diagnostics and everything comes back fine and if I plug just a USB keyboard and Mouse in it work fine. I have even tried using PS/2 cables and a PS/2 to USB converter and still get same problem. I even got a USB hub and got it running on the server and then plug the KVM back into the hub and get the same error. The keyboard is an APC (AR8250BLK). Anyone experience this before? Any help would be appreciated! Also It give a no keyboard present error on boot if it's the only keyboard plugged in.

Is the keyboard responsive during the post sequence? Are you able to access the BIOS?

Yeah I purchased a new keyboard/mouse combo which was a completely different model amd make. No it did not work with a PS/2 to USB converter. I also tried about 4 different keyboards with the PS/2 to USB converter and a completly different PS/2 to USB converter all with the same results. But once I plug in a USB keyboard to the server it works fine. Makes no sense what so ever.

No it's not responsive during boot. Gives a keyboard error. I even updated the Bios to see if the USB fix would fix it. Now this keyboard works on all my other 15 Dell servers using USB.

You mentioned that you purchased a new keyboard and mouse combo, was it the same model or was it different? I'm sorry if you have already answered this question and I missed it, but does this keyboard work directly connected to the server with a USB converter?

I will see if the developers will let me take it down at some point today. Most likely won't be for a few hours but once I get the info I will post it. Thanks.

Could you provide the model number of the system board and chipset for me? I would like to look into this a little more closely.

Well without taking the entire server apart only number I could find was MS 9181 Revision A00.
