R710 Memory Upgrade Issues.
I have a R710 with the following memory configuration: 6 x 16GB & 12 x 8 GB. Running in memory optimized mode. All slots are in use.
A1 - A3 & B1 - B3 have the 16GB modules.
A4 - A9 & B4 - B9 have the 8GB modules.
Under this configuration the amount of system memory is 192GB.
I purchased 6 more 16GB modules that are an exact match for the 16GB modules I am currently running. I tried adding them in the following order.
A1 - A6 & B1 - B6 have the 16GB modules.
A7 - A9 & B7 - B9 have the 8GB modules.
In this configuration, the server reports it has 200GB of RAM.
Thoughts?
My 8GB modules are Dell Part Number: X3R5M that came with the server. The previous 16GB modules are Crucial 16GB, 240-pin DIMM, DDR3 PC3-12800 Memory Modules.
Then we added more Crucial 16GB, 240-pin DIMM, DDR3 PC3-12800 Memory Modules, that's when we experienced the issue.

I guess I'll start with "what are the memory population rules?" There are many limitations with the memory controller. These limitations restrict the number DRAMs per channel and various other restrictions. I need more information on the crucial memory before I am able to review your configuration.

The memory is populated correctly and I see nothing in the specifications that would stop them from working. I refer you back to my first post, check the logs for any errors or any disabled DIMMs. Also, check to see if all of the DIMMs are detected in the memory section of the iDRAC.

I would need either the model/part number of the memory you are using or the exact specifications. It would also be helpful to review the hardware log and memory configuration pane in the system setup to see if DIMMs are being disabled for any reason and also to find out how the system is detecting the memory.
There are many memory populations rules. Without knowing the specifications of the memory it is difficult to make a guess as to what the issue is. It could be a DIMM that is not fully seated, DIMM that is faulty, or a population rule issue.
