If the RAID controller has issues detecting the drives, you might need to check if the drive is compatible. If you are using a non Dell certified drive, it might be difficult to narrow down the root cause of the OS not able to boot. I would suggest checking the RAID controller logs to identify if it is the cause of the issue. 

Another thought I have is about the OS compatibility. Base on Ubuntu's page, R630 supports up to 18.04 LTS. https://dell.to/4g9036E.

Well, if I leave it alone and let it reboot enough times, it will eventually boot into Ubuntu....Are there any settings in the Raid controller I need to adjust to make it more compatible with this SSD? I have the drive configured as non-raid right now.

There isn't any setting in the BIOS or raid controller that would increase the drives compatibility. If you have the ability, would you confirm tha part number for the drive in question?

Will venture to say that you will say the drive is not compatible. I have tried both of these: Ortial oc-150-128 and PNY Cs900 SSD. Same results with both.

When it does not work, I get this message: Error: attempt to write outside of disk hd0

I can confirm that they aren't supported. Also, they look to be geared towards client devices, such as laptops and desktops. 

There does appear to be one close to those specs that is supported, part # C6365.

Can you post the list of all supported SSDs? Will this model work: Dell #1KTD0. I do not need a lot of space.

Or would any SSD that is labelled "server" or "Enterprise" or Dell labelled also being server or enterprise work?

Unfortunately we don't have a complete list that is customer facing, despite the parts for your dell page, which doesn't have any ssd listed. 

If you give me the specs you are interested in I can give you some suggestions.  As far as 1KTD0, it isn't listed for any Poweredge server and also looks to be for laptops and desktops.

If labeled as Dell Enterprise it does drastically increase its chance of compatibility, but it would also depend on what generation server it supports, such as new or old. 

120gb or slightly larger would be fine.
