POWERVAULT 114X

I have a client that has a backup tape drive PowerVault 144x which you want to connect to a Dell R820 server using an IBM 6Gb SAS HBA (Part number: 46M0907) card
I wonder if this is possible and can work properly with this SAS Powervault 114x card?

Thanks Sam, check the controller card Dell 6GB SAS HBA and the HBA IBM 6Gb SAS (Part number: 46M0907) card is the same, both work with SAS Controller: LSI SAS2008.

I would have no problem that the Dell R820 server detects the IBM 6Gb SAS HBA (Part number: 46M0907) card, correct?

    Hello Fco Ochoa,

That card has similar specs as Dell 6GB HBA that we would send with the PV114T. So as long as the server can see it & on post the card detects the tape drive than you should be good to go. Here is a link to Dell’s support matrix for your PV114T & you can see on page8 & 9 which card we have said work with the server. ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_ser_stor_net/esuprt_powervault/powervault-lto5-140_Reference%20Guide9_en-us.pdf

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Hello Fco Ochoa

Yes that is correct you should have no issue.  The only thing you may need to do is to install the driver for the tape drive.
