TL2000 Malfunction

Hi,

I've got a problem since today on my Dell PowerVault TL2000.

I tried to moved a tape to I/O station from left magazine.

This took a long time and LCD Screen on the device displayed "Recovery" and after a few minutes, HTML console displayed this

13.01.04 11:12:50.32 LIB/ERR <80 9B 37 17 2B 0F 00 00 00 00 00 00 FF 02
                                                                  14 FF 03 01 02 30 30 30 30 32 35 4C 55 00
                                                                  00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
00 > HE: sled position not found

I tried to reboot the unit but it did nothing. I'm able to move tapes from left magazine to right magazine and from right to left magazine (but it's longer than usual) and backup jobs work fine.

On the console IO Station remains in "Opened" state.

I tried to pull off the left magazine and i opened and closed the I/O Station manually and replaced the magazine but it's keeps displaying :

"Incompatible Left Mag. Not ready to the Host. Release the left mag."

I did this many times but it doesn't do anything. I also tried to manually insert a tape into IO Station but it's not detected.

I also tried to Disable and reEnable I/O Station in web console but it didn't work.

I'm gonna perform a firmware update but i dont believe it will solve the problem.

Help, please it's driving me crazy !

Regards,

    Hello heartemis,

The error that you are getting is a Sled position sensor not found. Error during sled positioning to sensor in FLMoveSled function for the magazine.  What you will need to do is to remove the left magazine and ensure that all the clear tabs are on the slots.  If all tabs are on the slots and there are no tapes hanging out of the magazine then run the Library Verify Test.  You can run the test from the web management by going to Service library menuadvanced Diagnostics.  If it fails that test then it is most likely going to be that the magazine will need to be replaced.  In some cases it require the chassis to be replaced as well.  If your TL is still under warranty then I would call in & open a support case to get the magazine replaced.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the answer, access to Advance Diagnostics section is denied when connected as admin.

    Hello heartemis,

Try using the Perform Diagnostics & run either the system test or the Library Verify Test.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.
