Dual Monitos

I have a Dell laptop with 1HDMi and 3 USB ports, I have purchased a Dell 23” monitor and dual monitor stand which only have HDMI ports, I have used anHDMI splitter but can only display the same on both monitors, any suggestions on how to get all monitors to display something different.

Which laptop do you have and which OS? (Linux, Windows, etc.)

Assuming Windows 10, Right-Click on an unused area on the desktop and choose "Display Settings". Scroll down to "Multiple Displays" and change from "Duplicate these displays" to "Extend these displays".

I hope that works for you.

PS. This is the forum for "Fixed Workstations" such as the Precision Tower series as opposed to "Mobile Workstations" which is under "Laptops" for some reason. (not that it makes a difference for this sort of question)

Is any of the USB ports a USB-C?

Your HDMI splitter is working exactly how it should.  Each HDMI port creates an image for a single monitor.  There is no way to have a single HDMI port run two monitors showing different content on each.
