I have a dell Precision 3570 (i7-1255U 16GB RAM) and I want to upgrade my existing internal storage by adding another ssd without replacing the current one. What options do I have and how to check if it is compatible? (I have checked dells manuals but I cannot understand if a disk is compatible). Is the samsung 990 Pro SSD 4TB M.2 NVMe PCI Express 4.0 compatible?
Yes, it should. Crucial support is great. They accept return for full refund if you have any issue with their products. One Gen 3 and one Gen 4 is a support storage configuration for your system.
There are two M.2 slots on your system for storage. It's very likely that the Samsung 990 will work but the speed will be limited to what the slot is rated for.
Thanks, will the following be compatible? As you mentioned its better to get a gen 3 since speeds will be limited to that. It is sure that the main ssd is in slot 1 and the new ssd be placed in slot 2, right? https://eu.crucial.com/ssd/p3/ct4000p3ssd8/ct21807306
