1700, some font symbols don't print correctly

I have the 1700 (not the N). I have it connected to a netgear wireless print server usb port. The basic MS Work bullet symbol is not printing correctly. Everything else seems fine. It just subs a garbage character for the symbol instead of the black dot. The deal is I've fixed this problem before and can't seem to get it this time (I reformatted the computer). Can anyone tell me the correct font settings for the driver? Was the solution to use the 1700N driver?

    Which printer driver are you using?   This issue seems to be a driver issue, it depends on the PCL driver or the PS. The PS (Postscript) does support more fonts than the PCL try this and your issue should be fix.

    i tried the other driver and it doesn't even print. I'm very confused because this worked fine before.

    Can you try to install it on another working computer and see if this occurs? If not then try to restore your computer when it was working fine
