Hi, new to the forum. I have 2 922 printers that have trouble feeding photo paper when I want to print a photo. Purchased the original printer in Feb. 05, set it up and it works beautifully. Went to print a 4X6" photo last Monday and it jams the paper. This happens 4 times, then prints a perfect photo. Tried again, but it onle jammed up 3 times before it printed. Checked the printing preferences and it appeared to be set up fot the paper size and type, etc. Dell sent replacement and right out of the box it had the same problem. Been on the phone with Dell online chat support the last 29+ hours and have gotten no where. different people answer your e-mail and there was no continuaty. Has anyone experienced this same kind of problem?
Well here I am, 4 weeks ( almost 5 ) and 4 printers later and I finaly have a printer that will feed Photo Paper with out jamming. The 24/7 support that Dell has was not too good. You never get the same person twice, and you have to restate the problem over to each new Dell Tech. Dell Tech's kept saying that it was the paper (Office Max vice Dell )that was a problem. I measured the paper thickness and find the Office Max paper is only .001" thinner than the Dell paper. That is 1/2 the thickness of a human hair ( Mine). I find it very hard to believe that this difference in the thickness would be so much trouble. This is like buying an automobile and the dealer telling you that you can only use one Brand of gasoline. Well I guess it's like the old saying, "Once Bitten, Twice Learned".

I'm new to the forum too. At least you finally have everything in order....so what you're saying is that it finally WAS THE PRINTER ITSELF and not the paper that was the problem?

p.s. I still have no idea about my problem "cover open"....see entry.
JMBOEGV; While I was getting the run around, I wrote a letter to their Corp. Customer relations Dept. Well today I got a phone call from them about my letter. They were apoligetic and all, that I had warranty, but it did not phase them that it took 4 weeks and 4 printers to solve the problem. I recomended that they use American Managers in the Foreign countries where the Support Tech's are located to keep a watch on things. I told her they should come to my house to use my computer to report a problem and see for themselves how good their 24/7 Support really is. BUT, when I told her about the Dell Tech's saying that it was the paper thickness, she aggreed that I should be able to use any brand of paper.
I did find out why I could not print Wallet sized photo's. The last tech tried to tell me it was in the software and we would have to change it. So following his directions, I did this and did that and suddenly it took me to the Printer Preference screen. Then his Supervisor got on the phone and said the 922 was a basic printer and not a Photo AIO and the size options of photo's was limited. But it is all water under the bridge now. I will go over to your thread. V/R bergal
You should add up all the hours you spent on this "project", multiply them by the hourly rate for a Corporate Customer Relations Dept. Mgr., and bill them.
Like you said, water under......still no responses from anyone to my problem. "UMMMM" or whatever has the exact same problem. I sent a personal email to PRINTBOY007 (James Bond of printers?) since he seems to have good answers to other questions. No reply yet. Best,

Yeah. Seems that different mfgrs of printer paper use different thicknesses. Check specs
