Two main benefits:

1. You can send larger and more complex print jobs to the printer. If you haven't encountered any issues yet with job size issues, then your print "model" probably isn't heavy enough to need more. (adding more ram does not effect fax operations)
2. You can activate "Secure" and/or "Proof" print features. This allows you to send a print job and it doesn't print until you are standing at the printer. For proof prints, it allows you to print one copy first so you can inspect it for accuracy, alignment, etc. For Secure print, it doesn't print until you enter a password on the front panel.
