I haven't had any ink for nearly 6 months, I relocated to another state and now I need to use my printer, so I bought 2 series 5 printer cartridges. However, after inserting them, my printer is not reading them. It keeps telling me to "change cartridge" and telling me how to do so. I have inserted many cartridges before, so I know I am doing it correctly. I have turned it off and turned it back on and briefly it says "cartridge change detected" and prompts me to align them, then it quickly switches back to the change cartridge screen. It is driving me CRAZY, because I spent $60 on these cartridges and may not be able to use them because my printer is acting up. I have even disconnected my printer from the outlet for minutes and it still does the same. Somebody please help!!!!
Please unplug the printer from the wall. Now remove the power brick from the back of the printer for 60 seconds. Now plug everything back in. This will reset any error messages the printer has. Now open the printer with the power on and the cartridges should go to the center to be replaced. Take out both Dell Series 5 ink cartridges and make sure the tape is off the cartridges and insert both back in and make sure the seat properly and latch. Close the printer and it should print an alignment page. If you still get the error message, please read bleow.
I just tried that and it still doesn't work. Thanks so much for the feedback, though. I am beginning to think I have a cartridge with a bad sensor. However, it is just so weird because the printer sort of realizes that is has new cartridges and asks me to push the check to align, but it quickly changes its' mind and doesn't detect the cartridges anymore. Thanks again for the help!!!

Dell Series 5 ink cartridges have a sensor in them that cannot be reset. Article on refilling Dell ink cartridges.
Dell Series 5 ink cartridges can be purchased at Staples, Walmart or Dell's Website.
It is also possible to get a new ink cartridge with a bad sensor. Please take it to the place of purchase for a refund or a replacement one.
