DELL AIO 962/continued scanner breakdowns

I've gone through 3 DELL AIO 962's and now the 4th 962 one has quit scanning.  Dell personnel can not figure this out and neither can I.
Each time I get the same malfunction code: ERROR 2200.
The error code appears when I try to scan something using only the 962, independant of the desktop.
1. The 962 is on a solid wood table and the table is level, confirmed with a carpenters level.
2. The table is on a solid "marble type" surface, the table doesn't rock.
3. The 962 is connected to the desktop with the USB that came with it.
4. The only electronics near the 962 is the desktop and there is no loud noise/vibrations.
5. I wait for each item to clear before I scan another.
6. I've unplugged everything and reload everything several times, still the same problem.
7. It continues to print just fine.

I have the same issue and the tech ended up replacing my printer. I'm wondering if this is very common....

This is distressing.   It is, of course, Christmas, and I had this same problem develop a few days ago but have procrastinated looking for a solution.  I originally had an error message which said some *dll's could not be found or something to that effect.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the entire 962 software several times to no avail.  I then tried to restore my system to a restore point but overlooked the mistake I made on an earlier error and attempted restoring everything (my XPS system does not have a ctrl-f11 feature).  This caused the entire PC to crash and I had to do a complete reinstall of everything after formatting the disk.  I guess you can see why I have been reluctant to get back to solving this problem.

My 962 is networked.  It prints fine.  But now when I set the mode to scan and select my PC and then select any of the applications it simply reverts to the original status and does nothing at all - no error message - no scan.  I am afraid if I call Dell they will try replacing it instead of solving the problem.  Any solutions out there?:smileysurprised:
