Dell AIO printer922

I got a new pc but not a Dell but my AIO printer is. I was trying to use it last night to fax something and had lots of problems. It took a long time but after I got all done uninstalling and installing the printer, I got the letter faxed but today when I went in to fax something,  the part that comes up so you can scan something to fax or anohter program, I think it's called All in one solution center, is not there. The solution center is, where you check how it prints and all that stuff. Before I got all done last night I went to print a reciept off line and it wouldn't print, so I remembered the R166239 patch or upgrade I had downloaded earlyer so went and downloaded it and then it did print but the AIO  Center went away. Can you help? I have Vista32 bit Compaq Babs

    punkinboop,

Please follow the insrtuctions as I have them and the Dell All-In-One Center will install for you, it's in the drivers package. Let me know what happens.

Please make sure you have all Windows Updates, especially .net framework(needed to run many applications) and the latest Java.

Disconnect your printer. Download and run this patch (a MUST with Vista machines) to completely remove the printer from your computer. Run the patch until it prompts you to restart your computer.

    Restart your computer.

    Download the proper drivers

    XP Drivers

    Vista 32-bit Drivers

    Vista 64-bit Drivers

    All other drivers

Install the proper drivers. You'll be prompted when to connect your printer.

    Scanning

Scanning using USB connection, open the Dell All-In-One Center, click on scanning and copying and scan from there.

Scanning wirelessly, use the scan buttons on the printer.

    Babs,

GREAT JOB! :emotion-21: Thanks for posting back. Could you mark the verify answer(s) that helped you solve your problem, so if someone else searches the forums, they can see what you did to fix your problem(s).

As for scanning to scanning your letters, if you have the disk that came with the printer, then insert the Printer disk and stop it from running. Go to My Computer and double click on it. Look for the drive with the Dell disk in it. Right click on it, left click explore. Look for the OCR Folder. In the OCR Folder, there is an Abbyy Folder. right click on setup.exe, that's in the Abbyy Folder and left click run as administrator. This will install the OCR program.

The read this to add the BVRP Classic Phone Tools as a scan to application.

Thank you very much, it worked:emotion-21::emotion-2:. Now is there a way to get my scanner to scan my letters to my BVRP Classic Phone Tools. I have tried everything to get it to work but still had to save the letter and attach it.. Babs

    John,

I usually find that people allow Microsoft to update their drivers. Windows Updates are GREAT for Windows ONLY, but for drivers, they sometimes offer the wrong drivers and/ot the drivers get install wrong causing problems with many devices.

Glad you get it working. You may also want to read...

Something blew away my AIO 922 software 2 or 3 weeks ago.  I reloaded the printer drivers and the 922 was printing, but scanning software was still gone

and no properties could be found by Windows XP for a scanner device.  I found your steps above and installed the patch, rebooted and reloaded the 922 drivers.

The AIO Center came up and scanning is back to normal!  Thanks for the patch info, it fixed everything as if nothing happened!  I'm still not sure what happened that caused

the original issue, but it's fixed now!

Thanks for the additional info.  I'll check it out.

Lesson learned...I won't let MS update drivers like that again

now that I understand what happened!

    Babs,

I use IrfanView to scan my pictures and images to. PDFF's are big in size. I also added Open Office(FREE version like Micrsoft Word) and also scan to the. You'd need to find the OCR Folder, then Abbyy Folder, if none, then click on the setup.exe in the OCR Folder and hopefully it will install the OCR program or...

    Try this FREE OCR Program.
