dell laser printer 1700 paper problem

hi fellow dellers:
i was wondering if anyone else was having the same problem as me, and if so, whether they had worked out a solution. you see, i've been using the booklet mode for printing, because i like how portable this is for stories, etc. however, there is a problem in the second half of the process, when you have to manually turn over the paper for reverse-side printing. for some reason this creates a deep gash or line in the paper, caused by the plastic wheel-cogs, i presume. why does this only happen after the manual feed?
any suggestions would be gratefully received.
best wishes,
dominic

I guess it's because the rollers are dirty with the toner.. If you printed a lot, I guess you should change the toner and photoconductor. If this doesn't help, I'd ask for assistance of DELL in cleaning the rollers or at least explaining how to do that.

Thanks for the feedback. I only took the printer out of the box yesterday though, so it's not a question of too much use or anything like that.
I'll keep tinkering, and see what the problem is.

If it happens straight away when you bought the printer, get DELL to replace it.
