dell P703w will not load driver after laptop reload
hi everyone ,not sure if anyone else is having this trouble.
my win 7 64 bit dell laptop and printer P703w that I bought jan 2010 worked great. ( used the printer three times ..I don't print much) the laptop crashed and lost everything so I reloaded. when I put the windows 7 disc in it said to get the newest versions so I did.
went to load my disc for the dell printer P703w and the disc I used last year will not work??? it will not auto run and a pop up that says this disc is only good for windows 7 pops up.... I HAVE windows 7??? so I downloaded it from dell.... it downloads fine but when I run it it say's to plug the usb cable in when I do it the pop up from the usb icon says downloading driver... I did get it down loaded once but it would not connect with the printer. I've spent 16 hours over 4 nights with tech support that I had to pay for.... they also had me buy a new router.... so I'm out 200 bucks and still can't get it to work.
it loaded off the dell download just once but since then I have uninstalled it to try it again and have never been able to get it to download ( I am telling the printer to reset each time I do a download and install.... ( I also uninstall the program)
anyone else having any trouble with their P703W printer??? I'm ready to throw it out and buy a new one.

steve_niceguy,
When you installed Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit) did you install the desktop/notebook utility and the chipset drivers first? If not the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order If you cannot find Windows 7 drivers, then try using the Vista (or XP) 32-bit drivers, for Windows 7 32-bit of the Vista (or XP) 64-bit drivers for Windows 7 64-bit and install the drivers in the Compatibility mode
You should be able to install the printer from thei disk or download the drivers from Dell P703w All-In-One Printer owners thread
