I have a Dell All-in-One A940 printer, and I also have Vista. I downloaded the R154039 driver, but the 940 won't print anything color. I have plenty of ink. If something is on the screen in color, it's like the printer skips over it. I have changed the printing preferences to print color images in black and white, and there is no difference. Are there any additional drivers that I need to download in order to print color or did I miss a step in formating the printer to print color words/images?
Looks like you downloaded the wrong driver. The correct one is R154049 if you have the 32 bit Vista. Not R154039 Uninstall the previous drivers before updating.
Edit: If that's the driver you used, you might need the firmware update on the download page which updates the hardware. Follow the directions carefully for firmware updates. Also d/l and install the application update for vista. Make sure to run a test page to see if the driver installed correctly. Don't test printing by printing a web page. Test by printing a file on your computer.
I was mistaken. I actually downloaded the R153049 driver, which is the one Dell recommends according to http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R153049&SystemID=PRN_ALL_A940&servicetag=&os=WLH&osl=en&deviceid=4150&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=1&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=40&fileid=203949. Are you certain it's the R154049 driver? I'm willing to download 154049, but because drivers take so long to download, I want to be sure to get the right one this time. Thanks!
