64 bit Windows XP migration
I have Dell Precision 64 bit Workstation. Also the MSDN Universal.
I just received the 64 bit Windows XP with 64 bit drivers.
Because the syatem came witrh with Windows XP 32 bit preinstalled
there are a lot of data in this workstation.
I want ot make a smooth migration to 64 bit because in MSDN I have
all what I need in 64 bit versions and this is justified.
The question is - how to do it smoothly because I have a business to run
and not want to experiment.
Microsoft advised me of the following steps:
1) Right now I use 32 bit Windowx XP which is stable.
2) I will install Partition Magic (or other?) and make another partition.
From Microsoft advised me to create another partition for data.
3) Next - install 64 bit Windows in different partition.
4) Gradually install all 64 bit programs I need and have. Test.
5) Switch to 64 bit Windows when all is ready and tested.

There is another question remaining - 32 and 64 bit cannot coexist according
the agreement. But before I am sure everything is working fine on 64 bit
I do not want ot cut out the 32 bit completely. So the question is will 32 bit
Windows stop working if I install 64 bit Windows?

1. Get a new hard drive.
2. Use some kind of imaging software like GHOST to make a drive to drive copy.
3. Then try update or format over and re-install OS on the "new" drive.
4. If you need to go back you take the old drive and image it again.
I don't want to hear about another drive is too expensive.
Do you need your data or not?
