Big problem installing Office XP SP3

Hello!

Alrighty... here goes.  I downloaded the fullfile version of the Office XP SP3 update (because I cannot locate my disks with Office on them) and started the install.  It eventually prompted me for a disk.  I have to choose cancel because I don't have my disks.  I then get error 1706... Setup cannot find the required files.  Any idea where to go from here?  Can I get a duplicate set of disks from Dell?  Or is there some other way to get around this issue?

FYI, Word and Outlook still run fine.  When I try to run Excel, it starts the update installation again and of course, errors out.

Thanks in advance!

To get Excel working again, see if you can use System Restore to restore to a time before you tried to install SP3. I think that the install would have created such a restore point at the start of the install.

If that is not possible, maybe you could try control panel, add/remove, highlight your Office entry, click change, then select repair Office, but that might also ask for the CD, not sure.

SP3 install  wants your Office CD to check that you have a legal copy of Office. I don't know of a way round that. If you don't have the disks, I'm afraid your only recourse will be to buy a new set.

Thank you!  I'll give it a shot.
