Word 2000 TOC

I have been running Word 2000 for years and it has always had this problem. When I use automatic Table of Contents, then go into Preview, it changes all the TOC page numbers to the same number. I have to update them again to fix it but it happens every time in Preview. I thought I would finally run the Detect and Repair feature in Word Help but after a lot of activity it completed. Of course it did not fix the problem. Any suggestions on how to fix it.?

I tried selecting another printer and the problem seems to have disappeared. Maybe my old Lexmark driver is a problem although I a pretty sure I have the same problem with a networked HP driver at the office. However you may be on the right track.

Thanks for responding abach. There are no checks in those two fields.

OK, try placing checks in the boxes. Let me know if this does not help, as it may be the printer driver.

Don't know if this will help, but, in Word, Tools, Options, Print tab. Are there checks in the Update Links and Update Fields choices? If so, remove them. If not, let me know.

You may be able to get an updated driver at Lexmark's web site. Sometimes just uninstalling, then reinstalling the driver helps.

Thanks. I will try various printers and also see if I can get a new driver from Lexmark. I will post the results here.

I have downloaded and installed a newer driver from Lexmark. The problem continues. I have rechecked with Canon and HP Drivers and I still have the same problem, although not every time. That is why I reported that the HP driver solved the problem. Whither?

Have you tried deleting the normal.dot template?
