blue ray do not read
my xps8700s as a flaw in the design the dell people do not want to fix it
they sold me the xps with a sound blaster card plus a video card model 650ti
it came like this I could show you my bill on request
I use the dvi out to go to my tv and an optic fiber cable to my sound system but by doing so iam not allow to read blue ray .so they say to use the HDMI output .but I can not because it is not hook up to a sound card or to a video card . now that dell problem to fix that what the of having all that stuff if you cannot use it

I remove my optical cable from from the sound card
I am using the display port for picture but the computer do not come with a digital output for sound
because you put the sb card the hdmi output is not available either physicly or because there is no program for it inside
now went you buy a thing that say's BLUE RAY YOU EXPECT THAT YOU PUT YOUR BLUE RAY IN AND AWAY IT GO
I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY YOU MAKE THING COMPLICATED LIKE THAT
CHECK THE SPEC OF THE SOUND CARD CHECK THE SPEC OF THE COMPUTER I WOULD LIKE THIS COMPUTER TO WORK BEFORE MY WARRANTY GO OUT
Windows 8 needs dvd player software to play dvd video. You should have CyberLink dvd software in your Programs. That can play video dvds but you must open Power DVD first. The ability to play dvd video in Media Player has been left out of all Windows 8 computers. Look for Cyberlink Media Essentials in the Programs list.

Blu Ray digital rights management (DRM) requires the audio/video output to be BD compliant. This is not specific to Dell but is true for all PCs. You must use HDMI audio and video output, or DVI with analog audio output (not optical).
