Burning problem using Vista software

Basically, when trying to burn DVD or CD via the Windows vista software (right click, send to DVD), I can go trough (even choose the burn speed and label/name disk) until the burn process itself.
When I click the burn icon, nothing...nada,zero,rien!

After few reboot I decide to look at the event viewer and found this:(many times)
An error was detected on device \Device\CdRom0 during a paging operation.

Weird cause I can burn with other software such as Roxio or Nero. I've just tried to confirm.
I was still able to burn two days ago. The only major deference I can see was with the windows update patches that I applied in the last 2 days. Since Microsoft doesn't really said anything about what the patches are and what they can affect, I can't really be sure...well you know. unsure.gif

I will make a scan disk to check for bad cluster/sector regarding the paging file but since I can do it with other software, I doubt.

Made the Dell trouble shooting test: Nothing, passed all test

Here are my specs:

Vista 32bit
Dell Dimension DXP061
Quad 6600, 2,4mgz
2gig of ram
Nvidia GForce 8800

Thanks!

    Hi, Eth0:

I'm not finding too much related to that error, but let's try these standard troubleshooting steps first.

When you post back, please provide the model of your computer (hint, it's on the front of your computer), and the model of the drive itself.

    Sorry, it's a Dimension 9200.

    The CD/DVD is a PBDS+-RW DH-16W1S.

I already uninstalled the drive and reinstall it with the drivers (ver: 6.0.6000.16386)
Still the same problem. I can burn using any other software but not the Vista one. There is no problem in the device manager.

Owing to my complete ignorance of Vista, I'm not going to be much help with this. If your burning programs work, then I'd stick with those. Vista uses this "Live File System" packet-writing program that I'm not hearing good things about, so for the long-term, you're better off using the regular Roxio software.

You might try perusing Jeff's Vista section for ideas. If you find something that helps, please do post back.

    Good luck!
