Depending on time frame, Dell was shipping Sonic`s or Roxio`s burning software. Either way, you should the software on a separate disc that shipped with your system.
What type of recovery did you run, a format or install from a back-up? Again depending on system and time frame, look at this Dell article, click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to section 12, article 12, Dell`s PC Restore by Symantec
