Error code 200-0146

My XPS M1710 notebook is getting temperamental about starting up. I hit the power button, the power light comes on, but the disk light sometimes doesn't.

I have to press the power button several times before the disk light comes on and the system boots up. After that, everything is fine.

I ran the diagnostics and got the error code 2000-0146. I know this normally means that the disk drive is toast, but mine works fine as soon as it boots up.

Is there some way I can fix this or is it best to replace the hard drive?

And will replacing the hard drive solve the problem?

Thanks

DD

Best to replace the hard drive, an error 0146 is a failed hard drive or bad drive sector.
