Install fresh WinXP Pro causes STOP 0x7E error with RAID0 Intel array (Dim9200)
My
Dim9200 was factory configured with RAID0 and WinXP
Home
I need to wipe out everything, create several partitions & install WinXP
Pro in each of them; I want to keep the RAID0 array
The issue is, when I try to boot from the (
retail version, not DELL) WinXP Pro SP2 CD I have, I get a STOP 0x7E error early in the process (at the point where Setup attemps to boot Windows, just before it should prompt me for the confirmation of installation).
1) This WinXP Pro CD has a valid key, and installs fine on another computer (4 years old Dimension 8200). So this CD is okay.
2) When I boot from the (DELL) WinXP Home CD that came with my Dim9200, there is no problem at all.
3) When I disable the RAID0 array, running setup from my retail WinXP Pro CD succeeds !
Question: are there any missing/obsolete drivers in my retails WinXP Pro CD ? How can I install WinXP Pro from this non-DELL CD on my DIm9200 with the RAID0 array enabled ?
Thanks for any help
PS: I tried pressing F6 during setup, but there is no drive A: (floppy) to insert any array driver ...
