Is adding a new C drive an option when re-installing Windows/XP?
I have a 2 year old Dim 4600 that does some odd things - half the system sounds don't work, it doesn't recognise my camcorder, Alt-Tab doesn't switch tasks, it takes 10 minutes to boot and 5 to shut down etc. I could muck about forever trying to fix this that and the other but it strikes me that I could put a second hard drive into it, set that as the C drive and install onto it. I would then have my old hard drive with all my photos, documents, music etc as a backup.
Does this sound like a sane or an insane idea and are there any catches (notably how do I change my old hard drive to the F drive instead of C?)
Thanks - John Mycroft
