Since most of don't know system types from nothing more than a number, it would've been helpful if you'd used its full name, and stated whether the M90 is a laptop or a desktop :emotion-55:

 

A quick Google however, tells me it's a Dell Precision M90 laptop.

But whilst I can certainly suggest a number of good 2.5" SATA drives, I'm unable to recommend specific models, because I don't know the maximum capacity drive the Precision M90 can accept?

There would be little point in recommending the (excellent) 320GB WD (Western Digital) Scorpio Black drive listed in my sig' for instance, if your laptop can only use drives of (i.e) 200GB?

 

Once you find that out, then by all means consider as large a capacity WD Scorpio as it accepts/you can afford.

Alternatively, a Seagate Momentus would also be a good choice - particularly given their 5 year warranty, compared to most other manufactuer's 3 years :emotion-11:

Other good makes include Hitachi +/or Samsung.

 

And finally... since you've specifically asked for "fast" drive recommendations... you should be looking to get a 7200rpm drive - rather than a (more common) 5400rpm drive :emotion-5:

Thanks for your reply ... Yes the M90 is a high end laptop ..... your sugestion of a WD Scorpio sound like a good idea. It also have 5 years warranty and have been out a bit longer than the larger Momentus drives ...

I have ordered a 320 WD Scorpio drive ... it should work ok ... in the M90 ... Will let you know the outcome ....

I have just cloned (Using Casper V4.0) the original drive onto a new 320Mb WD Scorpio drive 7200rpm - it now works a lot faster due to its increase in free space - No more drive noise than the original Seagate drive.

I only had 17% free space on the original Seagate drive .... So lots of space now... :-)
