please insert blank disk
I have a dell dimension E521 running vista home. whenever i try to send data or music to the internal dvdrw drive, i keep getting a message that says "insert a blank disk" i installed an external drive and get the same error. i have tried numerous blank cd-r's of 2 different manufacturers. i can read cd's with info on them from either drive. here is a list of the drives i have installed. thank you

Your internal drive is not a DVD writer, just a ROM. The external burner should work, but you must make sure the drivers are installed properly and you should use the burning software that came with it. See the instructions that came with this drive for more information.
