Problem 1:

While trying to burn a CD, I got this message: "Please insert the CD into the Drive."

There already was a blank recordable CD in it. I tried whatever I could even Dell Tech Support helped but all in vain. Finally I was told that "your OS (XP) has been corrupted and now needs to be restored." While I understand that there might be some probem with the OS [that's why I wanted to save my DATA onto a CD....] but I don't think my CD problem is because of corrupt OS. I would have sacrificed my data loss for System Restore but I saw this forum and thought to give it a try. Hoping to have someone solve this problem without restoring OS.

 

Problem 2:

DVD can't be played on DVD ROM. It opens the player but when I click run/show movie and I get error message "An error has occurred abc (programs' name real player, media player, dell media player etc.) will be closed.... Send Data    ...... Don't Send Data...

Note that CDs can be played without any problem. It is just DVD. I tried three different ones but without success. No it was not a region code ..... problem.
