What is the D drive used for?

Hi this is to restore your computer back to factory new it is D:\Recovery

and you should not even use it for backups !

 

Can I move some files from C to D to free up space on C ?

You can

but if the files or to big the D:\ would give you hard drive is full error messages!!

 

Add a second drive or replace existing drive ?

could get a bigger hard drive or get a USB hard drive

for extra storage .

OH by the way out of the 15 gig,s you really do not have that much because

the D:\ Recovery has the factory image the could be as high as 6 to 10 gig,s used .

Your best bet is to get a bigger hard drive !

If you do not want to  use the factory restore image you can format the hardrive or in my case shredd it using McAfee. You will not be able to use the factory restore if you do this and will have to reinstall using the discs.

 

Best bet is to get a 160Gb laptop SATA Harddrive or superior.

 

Note to do this you will need to reinstall everything and will not have a factory restore image.

Is there any way to tell for sure about the D drive free space?

I guess if I have 3 gigs of stuff there and no mention of the restore problems then I should be OK.

I do not have any disks from Dell.

Only 1 internal hard drive at a time a USB external harddrive would probabally be your best bet.

I guess a USB external drive is the easiest to use.

Iomega has one a 320 gig for $65

Would that work OK?
