I bought tis computer in the flea market cheap it's a Dell demeion 2300, it about 4 to 5 years old, anyway when I boot up it goes shows windowsXp screen for a second, then it goes to select a windowsxp home edi,,, or select a windowsxp pro, now on windows pro it goes to this blue screen says a problem has beem detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer...... now I tried rebooting OS, and even when I go to boot and select IDE CD-ROM Divce it goes to this blue screen.
can anyone one tell me how can I reboot this thing, Blue just keep popping up. I called dell they did what I sayed and still blue. clicking F12 Blue....
How about it Any hints out there.
all I know right now is it's a dell 2300, celeron 1.8mhz
Before reinstalling XP, run Dell diagnostic's extended test on the hard drive.
The guide for this should be in the owner's manual.

Thanks for the Information, but I been there, restarted windows clicking F12, and with cd in the drive chose, IDE CD-ROM and it still went in the Blue screen Titled as it states on the Subject line.
I do appreciate all the info you gave me and hope they'll be more to come, this pc has become a challenge for me,Now. hahahaha
Can you tell me if this means my hardrive is cooked? I have a Dell desktop 3000, very old, actually just bought new Dell laptop (using) and new Dell 530 pc, but I would like the 3000 to work if possible.
