Dell Installed Software Problems

I have a two-year-old, 64-GByte, Dell Venue8 Pro tablet running Windows 10 mostly satisfactorily.  Recently, I began receiving a Dell pop-up concerning their backup software.  The message in the pop-up stated something like:

Update Your Recovery Media

A new version of Dell Backup...

Each time the pop-up appeared, I tapped the control to install the new version of Dell Backup.  However, nothing happened each time.  So, I called Dell's Technical Support and was told Dell wouldn't help me because my tablet is out of warranty, and there would be a fee to reinstitute the warranty.  I responded it was Dell's software in question, and all I wanted to know was how to upgrade the software and pay any cost.  The tech insisted I first had to update the warranty.  So, I told him to forget it and removed the backup software from my tablet.  So, my question here is what Is the most cost-effective way to backup my tablet using Brand-X software?

There are other Dell programs still on my tablet.  One program is Dell Digital Delivery, and another is Dell Upgrade.  Tapping on each of those programs does nothing in each case.  Are those programs defeated because the tablet isn't in warranty?  Also, what would each of those programs do if they worked?  At this point, I'm about ready to uninstall them if they can't be made to work and do something useful.

Another Dell program is Support Assist.  I've just finished running that program, and all system tests were completed satisfactorily.
