Can't Download License File

Hello

I have deployed a new UnityVSA (using the ova file) in my VMWare Workstation lab test. Using the initial configuration wizard in the first boot I am unable to get the license online (the System UUID is displayed in the wizard), if I log in my Dell account I was unable to add the UnityVSA in order to get this license

File name: UnityVSA-5.4.0.0.5.094.ova

    Hello Danny Jeff,

    The license server is down currently and I don't have an eta for it to be resolved. Also the license server is the only way to get a license for Community Edition.

    @DELL-Sam L

    Hello DELL-Sam L,

    Thanks for the update, but this is honestly a massive blow. I am currently dealing with the exact same issue on an older Unity 300 after a reinitialization.

    Before updating to a newer version, I was always able to easily re-obtain and re-apply the license after a reset. But now, not only is the license server down, but the licensing website also fails to load or times out when redirected.

    If the license server is completely down with no ETA, and it's the only way to get a license, does that mean all older or Community Edition units that go through a factory reset are permanently bricked and unable to create storage pools?

    Is there really no workaround, offline license generation file, or alternative procedure available for owners affected by this outage?

    Lucas

    Hello Lucas_NEtPower,

    There is not a workaround for the license server. If you reset your unityVSA system and need another license, you will not be able to get the license until the license server is resolved.

     @DELL-Sam L

    Hello! Thank you for the reply.

    I would like to clarify that my system is not a UnityVSA (Virtual Storage Appliance), but a physical Dell EMC Unity 300F All-Flash Storage Array running in production.

    Here are the system details for context:

    • Model: Dell EMC Unity 300F (All-Flash Array)
      <To protect you, your private information was removed from public view. All private data was saved to your private Case. DELL-Admin>

    • Operating Environment Version (Unity OE): 5.4.1.0.5.006

    • Architecture: Physical dual Storage Processor (DPE) hardware appliance (24GB RAM per SP).

    Since this is physical hardware, I am trying to reactivate/refresh the licensing via Connected Licensing (or acquire the correct .xml/.lic license file for manual upload) after updating the OE.

    Best regards,

    Lucas
