Ad-aware log

I was trying to update Ad-Aware.  And I get an error dialog.

Since I have the free Ad-aware, I'm not sure where to turn.  It claims to create a log.  Can anyone suggest where I could look for its log?

--Dialog------
Ad-Aware.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows.

An error log is being created.

I get those from time to time, even Spybot has a problem now and then (bad checksum). Did you try a restart and then attempt to update again. This works for me.

You do get them?  One doesn't want to be blaise though.  If it tell you there's a log, then the dialog should be telling me something I can use.  I assume it is Ad-aware that is providing this dialog message.

I started Ad-aware again, and it hasn't said anything new.

I then start a full scan.  And so it goes. But in a few minutes, I notice another message.  Apparently AVG resident shield is advising me "Virus Detected"... While openning file C:\Winnt\eg_auth_1041.dll
    Trojan Horse P2e.CC

I Google that.  Oh, guess what I find.
"Salut AVG détecte le virus trojan horse P2E.CC sur l'ordinateur de ma mère

All I find is websites in French!

Would you believe that?  Got some catastrophic things going on on my PC, and one can't seem to find something in one's own native language.

    dale,

spybot offers several download sites for its updates, all around the world.   [on the update screen, the second entry is a drop-down menu, currently with 3 sites in Europe, one in Australia, and two non-classified, which I'm assuming to be in the USA].  more often than not, i've gotten a "bad checksum" message when i've tried to download from a distant/"foreign" location.... and have tended to be successful when i select a (relatively) "local" location.

I just use the default, think it is Europe Network #1 for Spybot, will try your suggestion next time. Not sure what would cause the writers problem with AdAware, but it seems to go away with another attempt.

Jodpur: It might be helpful to run a virus scan like Trend Micro's and a few others to see what it turns up, and also to post an HJT look to see if anything else is residing in your computer.
