    Hi,

I've had a look through your log and I now have some instructions for you to follow.

Before you start, please read through these instructions and make sure that you understand them.
If you are not sure about anything, post a reply in this thread with your questions.
You will be booting into Safe Mode at some point in these instructions, so you should print out these instructions for reference. You will not have internet access in Safe Mode.

Please follow and carry out all the steps in the instructions in the order I've listed them.

Please do not try any other "fixes" you may have found on the internet while we are sorting this problem out, it's important that we work through the fix in a systematic manner.

    Step 1
Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

    http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe
    http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop.

    Step 2
    Double click l2mfix.exe.
Click " Install" to extract the files and follow the prompts
Open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop.

    Step 3
Double click l2mfix.bat and select option " 1" for " Run Find Log" by typing " 1" and then click " enter". This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log.
Copy the contents of that log and paste it as your next reply to this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

    Thanks,

    Bod

    Hi

I'm Bod and here to help you with your Hijack This log.

Please only use this topic for your replies on this problem. Do not start another thread.
The fixes we will use are specific to your problems and should only be used for this problem on this computer.
These things need to be properly researched and a complete fix for many malware problems can take some time and be spread over a number of posts, so please be patient and try to see it through to the end.

I am currently looking over your log and I will post back as soon as I can.

    Thanks,

    Bod

    Hi,

    Thanks for your log.

I've now got some more steps for you to follow.

Before you start, please read through these instructions and make sure that you understand them.
If you are not sure about anything, post a reply in this thread with your questions.

Please follow and carry out all the steps in the instructions in the order I've listed them.

    Step 1
Close any programs you have open since this part of the fix requires a reboot.

In the L2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option "2" for "Run Fix" by typing "2" and then click "enter", then press any key to reboot your computer.
After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal).
L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log.
Copy the contents of that log and paste it as your next reply to this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the L2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Once the pc has restarted if a log does not appear or the icons didn't disappear, double click the file "second.bat" in the L2mfix folder on your desktop.

    Step 2
You now need to run the option to restore the winlogon defaults as most of the notify key is missing.
In the L2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option "4" by typing "4" and then click "enter"

    Step 3
Double click l2mfix.bat and select option "1" for "Run Find Log" by typing "1" and then click "enter". This will scan your computer and it may appear that nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log.
Copy the contents of that log and paste it as your next reply to this thread.

    Step 4
Run Hijack This, "Scan" and post the log as a reply to this thread along with the two L2mfix logs. I'll check them through and get back to you with the next stage of the fix

    Thanks,

    Bod

    Hi,

Hmm, not quite what I expected to see, but we've restored the Winlogon section of the registry which was the main aim.

    Step 1
Click Start > Run and type "C:\Program Files\SurfSidekick 3\Ssk.exe" /u into the open: box. Note, there is a space between exe" and /u.
    Click OK

    Step 2
Click Start > Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes), click Ok.

Scroll down and find the following services. When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, click the "Stop" button, then click Properties > General Tab, change the Startup Type to "Disabled". Click Apply.
    Command Service (cmdService)
    Network Monitor

Click Ok and close any open windows.

    Step 3
Download CWShredder from http://www.cwshredder.net/bin/CWShredder.exe, install it, check for updates but don't use it yet.

Re-boot in Safe Mode by pressing F8 during Boot-up and choosing Safe Mode from the boot options list.
