Getting RUNDLL error on every startup

Running Norton 360 on Latitude D610 laptop, was prompted had backdoor trojon and needed to reboot. After reboot now get mutiple RUNDLL popups saying "Error loading C:\DOCUME~1\JRODZI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\deehgt.drv

The specific module could not be found."

Happened after son used laptop for a trip, couldnt get anywhere as far as if he tried dowloading anything. This seems to have disabled my antivirus. Unable to launch Norton, Hijackthis, SUPER Antispyware, yahoo anti spyware, or even go into regedit or even msconfig. Dont know what else it has blocked but from what I can see anything that would help. I get the same error message everytime I try one. Even get error message trying to clear temp files thru IE window. Have tried to reboot in safe mode but get same error, tried system restore but looks like could not go back far enough for a good restore point. Will let me connect to internet but figure that I am offering a wide open door to who knows what else especially since no antispyware running. I am at my limits on what to do next, was given laptop used so no original OS disk to reload. Beyond this it seems either having to take it into a professional or buying new XP software and clean harddrive and reload from scratch which would be my very last option. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

i see two separate issues here:   the RunDll error is rather minor, and you might* be able to fix it using a startup manager (for example, MSConfig), by locating a startup entry that references the file deehgt.drv , and unchecking it.   [(*) that's assuming you will be able to open/run MSConfig]

the bigger issue is that you can't use/access your other security programs.   you said you have HiJackThis...  try renaming the executable from HiJackThis.exe to jrodzilla74.exe   and see if you can run it then.   if so, post your results in the HiJackThis forum.

no good, tried renaming hijackthis and got same dll pupup. even tried executing msconfig from its folder location and same error. tried making a copy of msconfig and place in another folder and run app, no success. also found that it disabled my add delete program access. looks like this is the adware/virus that broke my laptops back.

Do you have any idea when exactly it happend. Did you dwn any new software or delete any software.

You already perform msconfig will disable all the startup application if still you getting the msg

Try to perform system restore when it was working fine

"Have tried to reboot in safe mode but get same error, tried system restore but looks like could not go back far enough for a good restore point."

It appears that System Restore will not help.

You mentioned that you cannot run HJT. Instead of a HJT log, please post a description of your symptoms. Was it Norton that gave you the alert about the backdoor trojan? Do you remember the name and location of the Trojan?

*Note: When one of the analysts replies to your post, you will need a USB stick or CD so you can download a tool to that and move it to the infected computer.

Have you tried an online scan such as Kapersky or F-Secure to see if you are able to go to any of those sites? If so, when you post on the other board, please include the log(s) from those.
