(i am NOT taking ownership of this thread)

unless your computer's clock has stopped... do you realize this log is dated   8/27/2003 ???

and moreover, you posted this identical log almost FOUR (4) weeks ago, on 12/10/05 ???

Please generate a brand-new, up-to-date, HJT log, REPLY here, and post it.   it would also help if you'd indicate what problems (if any) you're experiencing.

    Thank you for your help!

My system clock was wrong when the last HJT log was posted. I ran that log on the same day that I made the original post. My new log is below. I am getting a TON of pop-ups. Almost every new window that I open causes a pop-up. I have run adaware, spybot, and spyware doctor several times, but it hasn't solved the problem.

    Thanks again!

at present, i'm only "specializing" in certain types of infections, none of which I see present in your log.

so at this point, I'm gonna try to ask someone else to step-in, to determine and analyze the problems that you have.  Please be advised that we're very "understaffed" at the moment, so I can't make any guarantee as to when the next helper will arrive.

    Good luck.

P.S.  while the other helpers will probably recognize things automatically, it might help if you could give us some more information, such as any NAMES that appear on (and "identify") the particular popups.

    Please download AproposFix from here:
    http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/aproposfix.exe

Save it to your desktop but do NOT run it yet.

Then please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
    1) Restart your computer
    2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
    3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
    4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click aproposfix.exe (you may not see the .exe part of the name) and unzip it to the desktop. Open the aproposfix folder on your desktop and run RunThis.bat. (You may not see the .bat) Follow the prompts.

Post the log it creates as part of your reply.

Looks like the fix found and removed something.  Did that help with the popups?

    Hi Ron,

Yes! It helped tremendously! The popups have been significantly reduced. Can I run this same procedure if I experience the popups again?  Any suggestions about preventitive procedures going forward?

Thanks again, Ron. I really appreciate your help.

The program is OK to run if you think it might help.  It is smart enough not to do anything if there is no infection of the type it targets.

Your log looks good.  Are you still getting winfixer popups?
