- Welcome. Thank you for using Dell Community Forums.
I need to ask you a few questions so we can get a better picture of the situation.
* Have you have posted this log on another forum? If so, please provide a link to the topic.
* If you are using any cracked software, please remove it.
Definition of cracked software:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_cracking
* If you are using any P2P (file sharing) programs, please remove them before we clean your computer.
The nature of such software and the high incidence of malware in files downloaded with them is counter productive to restoring your PC to a healthy state.
* Have you already fixed entries using HijackThis? If so, please restore all the backups and then post another log. Please do not do anything else until you get further instructions.
* After we begin working, please print or copy all instructions to Notepad in order to assist you when carrying out procedures.
Please follow all instructions in sequence, and do not run any fixes or scanners on your own because this may cause conflicts with the tools that I am using.
* If your replies do not fit in one post while we are handling your issue, please reply to yourself until all text is submitted. It may take several posts.
* Did you or did you use Spybot to set those Restrictions in the Control Panel? Are you still using Spybot's Teatimer?
We can remove the Epson entry and delete the file if you wish, so let me know.Reply tharless62

OK-i have NOT posted this current log on another forum. Not sure of any cracked software. What are P2P file sharing programs?Haven't fixed any entries.Today i downloaded & ran Spybot and i had them fix 9 items...so maybe yes to your question?Don't know if teatimer is still running! What is it for anyways?Should i go ahead and uninstall SpyBot?Ok - i'm ready to rumble! Have a raging headache and just want to get this fixed! I thought about trashing it out of anger but then installing a new printer would maybe have the same results?please & thanks, trishReply - "OK-i have NOT posted this current log on another forum."
If you have consulted another online forum, other than Dell, and posted any logs, please post the links to those threads.
We cannot diagnose your problem if we do not know what configurations have been changed prior to your posting here.
Are you the only user on that computer? Leave Spybot as is for now, please. Please let me know what Spybot fixed.
Edit: If you do not remember, go into Spybot > Mode > Advanced mode > Tools > View Reports > View Previous reports. Look for the Fixes.yymmdd-hhmm file that contains today's desired information. Open it.
Please copy that and post it here. Thanks.

I cannot answer that because we may not be posting from the same time zone, but I will certainly try to find some help for you as soon as possible.
"i have NOT posted this current log on another forum"
I understand that you did not post this log anywhere:
Scan saved at 2:38:01 PM, on 12/13/2007
I will proceed under the assumption that you have not posted a prior HJT logfile anywhere as well.
Please perform this online scan: F-Secure Online Scanner
The online scanner is on the bottom right of the page.
Direct link: http://support.f-secure.com/enu/home/ols.shtml
Follow the directions on the F-Secure page for proper Installation.
* You may receive an alert on the address bar at this point to install the ActiveX control.
* Click on that alert and then click " Install ActiveX component".
* Read the license agreement and click " Accept".
* Click " Custom Scan" and be sure the following are checked:- Scan whole System
- Scan all files
- Scan whole system for rootkits
- Scan whole system for spyware
- Scan inside archives
- Use advanced heuristics
* When the scan completes, click the " I want to decide item by item" button.
* For each item found, Select " Disinfect" and click " Next".
* When done, click the " Show Report" button, then copy and paste the entire report into your next reply.Reply tharless62

i'm getting ready to do these scans- but i have to ask- what is the big deal with whether or not i have posted these logs elsewhere? I have NOT...but what would it matter?Reply - "what is the big deal with whether or not i have posted these logs elsewhere? I have NOT...but what would it matter?"
It helps us to know what configurations have been changed, and if another analyst is working on the same issue. We do not want our tools and fixes to conflict with something another helper may be advising. In addition to it being counter-productive, all of the analysts help on other security-related websites as well. We are swamped with logs, and we do not like to have two volunteer helpers spending hours researching the same problem when we have so many people waiting in line for help.Reply tharless62
