I sure do - I've got a whole stack of them- and it makes it very difficult to convert them to mp3!

NO computer company/program [including Microsoft & Norton] should ever access your SS#.

The only sites that might need it [provided you're sure they're legitimate and secure] would be things like the IRS and/or your state/local government tax agency, an income tax site/program you use, perhaps your bank or other financial institutions, and [unfortunately] your medical insurance carriers.   I might have overlooked some, but hopefully, you get the idea.

NO website/company should be asking for your credit card information, unless you've gone to that site, knowingly --- and again, being sure the site is legitimate and secure --- and intend to make a purchase from that site using your credit card.

It sounds to me like you (inadvertently) stumbled onto some "phishing" site... that's trying to obtain your personal information for clearly fraudulent purposes... most likely, to "steal" your identity and incur significant credit card debt against your name.

You did the right thing not giving them this information. 

ky331 thanks for the reply and info, I just emailed microsoft to let them know about my problem.

As I said I have nis 07 and it stopped the prosses when it tryed to get info. I am useing the microsoft link in the program files, maybe I will try a different link and see what happens. I did notice after clicking on the link and clicking on express nothing seemed to happen and after going to another link (like reveiw history) and come back to try again it works but wanting info.

Like you said maybe I got to a phishing site, and maybe my link has been courupted, I think I should delete it and try to get a good one.

Yes I have ran many online scans and all showed good, but I noticed in IE explorer under veiw objects that I had two files from microsoft when I used to have one.  After deleteing them everything went smoothly with no warnings and windows update still works.
