I was given a few NFSV4 mounts on my Linux server. I know that the file system is on VNX VG2 which I do not know much about. What I can tell from export is my server was given Root access to the file system. But when I login as root on my server and try to do chown on the NFS files or directory, I always receive 'invalid argument' error. I can do chmod with no problem. I have no access to the NFS server. Can some one tell me what I can ask my NFS support to change (or set up) so that I can do chown on my NFS mounts.

Can you provide the exact input of the chmod command you are using? "invalid argument" suggests you have some invalid syntax (and not necessarily permissions issues).
