One approach would be to perform a host-based migration of the data.  Basically, if your servers are attached to the EquaLogic arrays via iSCSI, you can present new iSCSI volumes from the VNX 5300, then copy data via a local utility like Robocopy on Windows or rsync on UNIX.  Or, if you choose, you could do host-based mirroring within the OS.  Or, you could consider installing PowerPath and using PowerPath Migration Enabler - PPME handles many of the cleanup operations very nicely.

The amount of time required will be completely dependent upon:

    - how many volumes?  what size?

    - how busy are the servers performing the copy?

You perform a test copy yourself, to estimate the time for the operation and build your migration cadence.

Let us know if that helps!

    Open Migrator is another option

    Open Migrator/LM - Data Migration - EMC

If you're looking for array-based migration, you're probably out of luck.  EMC's E-Lab Navigator will show you which non-EMC arrays are supported with SANCopy on the VNX, but I don't see EquaLogic on the list.  That means it probably won't work, or may not work the way you expect it.

If array-based migration is the way you want to go, you can always reach out to your sales team and try to get an RPQ with EMC to support a one-time migration.  Otherwise, you're looking at Open Migrator (which I always forget about - thanks, Dynamox!) or PPME.

its a free tool available on support.emc.com ver 3.12, OM is host based migration tool and the host CPU cycles will be used during the sync. based on the operating system you can download the Unix or the windows Guide which outlines the step by step procedure for Migration.

    Hi,

I would suggest to utilize the search on the forum.

There are quite a number of posts discussing migration with robocopy – and even more using emcopy (EMC utility similar to robocopy).

Also see the VNX CIFS utilities manual that describes emcopy, lgdup, sharedup
