VNX 5300 Block - Not able to discover

Hi

we have VNX 5300 block in our lab. we are trying to initialize the storage using unisphere initialization utility (inittoolcli). But the utility did not discover the storage at all. we have verified the cabling and server and storage are in same subnet. Still it is not able to identify the storage.

pls help me in fixing this issue...

regards

karthik

    Hello karthikm,

If your host is behind a firewall, open the UDP ports 2162 (outgoing) and port 2163 (incoming).

These ports are used by the initialization utility. If these ports are not opened, the  initialization utility will not function properly.

Might also be an issue with firewall software on your client

Please search the knowledge base – there are articles with troubleshooting steps

    hi

Actually my server and storage are in same subnet and my IT team confirmed that all the ports are open between these.

Is there any way i can check if these ports are opened from my server?

    regards

What do you mean by firewall software in client here? because we are using unix (solaris) servers to access the storage.

Are you sure that your array are not already initialized?
