Boot from CD

I have tried multiple times to boot from my XP CD.

I can enter BIOS and when there I Click on the CD have it at the top of the list Hit escape and then the Save Window. and nothing happens.

I must be doing something wrong can you advise, I am using a Dimension machine. I need to repair my XP software.

Is the disk in the drive when I change the BIOS?

Are you saving the configuration change?  Is this an original XP disc?

Also if you have more than one optical drive (DVD-CD), try using the other drive to boot the system with a CD.  With the Dimension models only one of the optical drives will be the bootable one and it may not be the upper most drive in the tower.
