BVRP fax

I've had my Dell for a year and a half and never had BVRP work. Does anybody know why they are still in business? Can't get an answer from them as to why and have informed Dell of this too. I will never use their product again. I still have to run down to Kinko's to send a fax. This is my last try before I delete it and block them from my mailing list. Does anyone have any input? Thanks, John Eskins

Hey there. Can you be more specific, please? I, too, am having BVRP trouble, but it's a specific problem. I can't fax more than one page sometimes in a multiple-page document. I'm sorry about your trouble. Sometimes it seems like the end of the world when these things happen. New software installed on a new computer (at the factory, no less!) should work from the get-go, yes?

Dear Skin guy. I fought with BVRP for a full day. It is now uninstalled . . . and I've done a system restore, purely as a cleansing ritual for my everlasting soul, with candles and insense for good measure. Somehow, it had shut down my Com 3 port where my 56K modem lives. I still haven't solved that one, but  I have managed to get Microsoft Fax to work well enough to get me through. Question: Have you ever checked out internet faxing, where you can subscribe to a third party that will allow you to send and receive faxes via email?

Sorry Doctor, I never got the thing to work at all and never got an answer from anybody about it. As far as I'm concerned, BVRP doesn't exist and never will on my system. I'm still going to Kinko's for faxing. In short, Sorry, I can't help you Doc. Good luck!

Hey Doc, How lucky you are to only have spent a day on this thing. I tried for about a year and a half, ( shoulda known ) and nothing. Not even a response from BVRP, right from the start. It would figure anyway, after all they are owned and operated in France! No support for the Americans ya know.

The subscribed fax services do work well tho. The only thing I don't like about that is all the paper shuffling from the scanner to documents to the program etc. If you have a lot to send it gets involved, so I've just been going to Kinko's. Thanks for the input on Microsoft fax Doc, if it's compatible with my modem I'll give it a try. Later.

The BVRP fax version that comes installed is crippleware. You can only fax 1 page at a time. If you have to send a multi-page fax, you need to upgrade. Pay mucho money to BVRP. Go to Tucows & find another fax program. The program does work, but most faxes are more than 1 page so it's useless.

You got that right, and nobody seemed to care about it. I tried their tech support, no answer, I tried Dell, nothing, I informed Dell of my opinion about this junk and still got nothing. I've been looking for a fax program compatible with my modem. Motorola 56K datafax but so far I haven't found what I'm looking for. I guess I should've kept my old fax machine, it at least worked.

I've used the BVRP fax software that came with my 4550 and I don't understand why you are limited to one page faxes?  I've had no problem sending multiple page faxes with it.

When creating a new fax I use Word and then print the document to the fax program.  It doesn't matter if it's 1 or 100 pages.  If I'm faxing an existing document I scan it, combine the pages into one document and drag and drop it on the fax icon.  BVRP pops up, I fill in the cover sheet, and off it goes.

The key is you can only fax one document.  A document can contain as many pages as you need.

That's great Dave, when your program works. Mine never did. I used word, created one (1) document, and sent it to the fax program. Decided to leave it there just to see if it ever went. Three days later I got tired of listening to the  dinging and uninstalled the program. I think most of us know how to use it, it just won't work and there seems to be no tech- support in place. In a year and a half I never got one answer from them. Maybe I would have gotten farther if I spoke French. You are aware BVRP is owned and operated in France aren't you? Good, I was hoping you knew that.

Anyway, sorry I'll keep my money in America where we are supported in all our endeavors, no matter what they might be.

You better dump that Dell then.  Assembled in America....from components made in China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and supported by techs in India.

Good luck finding an "American" computer.
