I have an Inspiron 9400 laptop running XP sp2. Yesterday I had about 10 programs located in the Quick Launch toolbar and all was working fine. I made a change to the Dell automatic update feature and stopped the updates. After rebooting the system, all the icons in the Quick Launch disappeared. The vertical bar seperator is still to the right of the "Start" button, but it won't move any to the right and I can't add any program icons to the bar. If I right click the taskbar and go to properties, I see that "Show Quick Launch" is unchecked. If I check it and press "Apply" and then "OK", I still can not add to the Quick Launch toolbar. If I go back to the taskbar properties, the "Show Quick Launch" is again unchecked.
I'm not sure that making the change to the Dell automatic updater had any bearing on this problem, but that's the only thing I can think of.
Thank you for the assistance. I ran "IE4UINIT.EXE" and the Quick Launch bar returned. Your knowledge, understanding and suggested remedies should be of great assistance to many forum members with similar problems.
