Com2 port won't start
Hi,
There is a yellow ! next to my com2 port in the device manager.
The error it gives when I double click it is: Device won't start (code 10).
So no irq or I/O conflict!
I run windows xp sp1. The reason I didn't update to sp2 is because ActiveHome (a x10 domotica program) won't work anymore. I connect a cm11 to my serial port and let it communicate with ActiveHome through com2. I tested this on an other pc with the same setup and there it works. So it sure isn't a problem with the cm11 module, but rather a windows xp problem.
I already tried to delete the com2 in the device managar and reinstall it, but that didn't work. Now the problem also is that I don't really know anymore if there was a com2 port when I bought the dell since there is only one serial port! But when I search for new hardware after I deleted com2, windows detects the second com port, installs it but then gives the code 10 error.
The sources settings are, just like on my other pc, for com1 irq4 03F8-03FF and for com2 irq3 02F8-02FF.
I also did a search for programs which could be interfering with com2 so I uninstalled my palm software (hotsync) and I disabled the modem in my bios (not really necesarry since it uses irq5 but to be certain...). You guess it, it didn't work.
Can anyone please help me to get that com2 working again?
