Anyone know why my Control Panel would no longer work? I tried to make some changes today and every time I open the Control Panel and select something, it freezes & I have to control-alt-delete to close it.
More information is needed: what version of Windows are you using what is your PC model.
Does it freeze when you open Control panel, or when you click on an icon in it (if so, which)?
Did you do anything specific just before this problem started (e.g. install/uninstall something). Did you notice anything else that might point to virus or malware having crept in? What were the changes you say you tried to make?
krobo,
It would be better to start your own thread if you want help with your problem, rather than tacking on to someone else's. The reason for that is that even if your symptoms are similar, the root cause might not be. maybe you have adifferent PC, or Windows version

First let me say that the problem seems to have corrected itself.
I use Windows XP for my OS. The only thing that I had done was set up a new user (my grandson) on the PC that I use. It's a Dell laptop (Inspiron, I think). Can't imagine why doing that would make my Control Panel stop working, but it did.
It would freeze after I opened it when I would click on any of the icons.
